Overview
本作は、2020年に書かれた散文詩と2023年発表の同題楽曲を踏まえつつ、 現在のDan Mitchelの価値観から再構築された新作です。 孤独や喪失不安を抱えた語り手が、 他者に何かを求める未成熟さを静かに引き受けながら、 やがて「信じているから 君のことを 愛しているんだ」という確信へ向かっていく。 その過程を、ドラマティックかつポップに描いています。
単なるラブソングとしてではなく、 「期待値」ではなく「期待そのものをどう扱うか」という主題まで含んだ、 Dan Mitchelの思想と作家性が濃く刻まれた1曲です。
Sound & Composition
サウンドの基調には、90年代J-POP黄金期を想起させる親しみやすさがあります。 その一方で、和声設計はきわめて精緻で、 拡張和音、スラッシュコード、モーダル・インターチェンジ、 サス系ドミナントの処理が有機的に組み合わされています。
四つ打ちビートを土台に据えることで、 これまでのDan Mitchel作品とは少し異なる緊迫感と前進性を獲得。 幻想性とロマンティシズムを保ちながらも、 音像全体に身体的な推進力が宿っています。

Blending the familiarity of classic 1990s J-Pop, the refinement of AOR / city pop, and a highly authored sense of harmony and dramatic structure, the song delivers a catchy yet deeply resonant four-minute narrative.

Overview
This release revisits a prose text written in 2020 and an earlier song of the same name released in 2023, then reconstructs them through Dan Mitchel’s present-day worldview. It follows a narrator carrying loneliness and fear of loss, gradually moving from emotional immaturity toward the conviction: “Because I believe in you, I love you.”
More than a conventional love song, it is also a work about how expectation itself should be handled, revealing the philosophical concerns and artistic identity at the heart of Dan Mitchel’s songwriting.
Sound & Composition
The song draws on the accessibility of golden-era 1990s J-Pop, while its harmonic design is remarkably sophisticated, incorporating extended chords, slash chords, modal interchange, and suspended dominant treatments in an organic way.
A four-on-the-floor beat gives the arrangement a sense of urgency and forward motion, adding a new kind of physical drive to Dan Mitchel’s dramatic and romantic sound world.
One of the song’s defining features is its whole-step modulation in the latter half of the chorus, followed by a final semitone lift near the end. These shifts are not decorative “key changes” for effect, but compositional decisions that move the lyric narrative into a deeper emotional phase.
