Those Creative Passions

It’s been a while.
I’ve been out of touch for about a week, almost as if I had an out-of-body experience.
It wasn’t intentional, but after a whirlwind March filled with events and a trip to Hollywood, I found myself needing quite some time to realign both mentally and physically—and to figure out what’s next.

As for the event:
I dare say I was able to create quite a creative space.
Thanks to having worked with the same members multiple times now, we’ve developed a solid musical groove and a natural flow of improvisation. That energy definitely fueled my own performance, and I feel that the street shows I did in LA helped eliminate a lot of hesitation within me.
One major highlight was working with the sound engineer introduced to me by Gai—it was a game changer.
Even though the venue was just a rehearsal studio, not a live hall, he brought in speakers and in-ear monitors to build the sound from scratch. That allowed us to finally experience how powerful and stress-free it can be to sing while truly feeling the full presence of the band.
It was honestly a revelation—I never imagined I could perform with such ease while still immersed in that live energy.

And above all, I cannot express enough gratitude to those who came out despite the sudden shift from early-summer warmth to freezing winter rain.
I felt that during the one-hour live performance—which served as a culmination of five hours of rehearsal—something almost indescribable, a kind of passion I wanted to convey, truly reached the audience. That made me incredibly happy.
What weighs on me now is the question: can this passion be captured and shared through recorded footage with those who weren’t there?
And if not, then as a producer, can I truly gather people in the same space, at the same time, to witness it live again?

Even so, I want to keep burning with the desire to reach even greater artistic heights.

To everyone who supported and participated in this bold and challenging project—thank you so much.
I send my deepest respect for your incredible passion and relentless curiosity.
I hope to find a way to give back to you all someday.

ご無沙汰しております

1週間ほど幽体離脱しておりました

そんなつもりはなかったのですが、3月はハリウッドからイベントとけっこう駆け抜けたのもありまして、次に何をしようかというのも含め、心身を整えるのに随分と時間を要してしまいました

イベントはですね

個人的には随分とクリエイティブな空間を創出することができたのではないかと自画自賛しております

同じメンバーで何度か場数をこなした甲斐もあり、音楽的なグルーヴや即興的なお楽しみタイムもかなり醸成されてきたし、そのパワーも得ながら、私のパフォーマンス自体も、LAでの路上ライブを経たことで、迷いがなくなりつつあるような気がしています

またガイ君が紹介してくれた音響さんと組むことによるメリットはかなり大きかったです

あのライブ会場ですらないリハスタで、スピーカーやイヤモニなども持ち込んでもらってイチから音響を創り上げ行った結果、イヤモニの素晴らしさというのをようやくちゃんと実感することができました

まさかこんなにバンドの臨場感を得ながらストレスなく歌えるのかという衝撃は、今も忘れられません

そして、初夏のような気候が続いた後、突然に真冬のように凍える雨が降り頻る中、足を運んでくださった方には本当に感謝しても仕切れない思いでいっぱいです

そしてそういった人達に、5時間のリハーサルの総括として実施した1時間弱のLIVEにおいて、私の表現したい何か言葉にもしがたい情熱のようなものが伝わったような気がして、それがとても嬉しかったですし、今一番心理的に押しつぶされそうになっているのは、それを記録された映像として、その場にいなかった人にも伝えることができるのか

もしできないのだとすれば、今度は人をきちんと、同じ場所同じ時間に集めることができるだろうかという、プロデューサーとしての苦しみもありつつ、アーティストとしても更なる高みを目指していけるよう命を燃やし続けたいと思います

今回、この非常にタフで挑戦的な企画に、ご協力、ご参加いただいた方々、本当にありがとうございました

皆さんの素晴らしい情熱と飽くなき探究心に最大級のリスペクトを送らせてください

そしてまたどこかで恩返しさせてください

今夜はずっとリハーサル？新感覚パーティ！

ハリウッドから帰国後、一発目のイベントです。
来る、３／29(土)に、前代未聞のパーティを開催します。

その名も、

「今夜は、ずっとリハーサル？」

概要をざっくりと説明いたしますと、

「ミュージシャン達が音響スタッフを交えて本気のリハーサルを実施。
その様子を、そのまま見ていただくことで、
音楽制作というものがどのように行われているかということを、
非ミュージシャンの方々にも実際に体験していただくという実験企画となっています。」

言うなればワークショップと、LIVEの中間と言いますか、
趣旨としては、

「ミュージシャンがどういったことを考え、工夫しながら音を作り演奏しているのか等を、非ミュージシャンの人たちに知ってもらうことで、単なる見せ物やタレント文化の芸能として扱われがちな、音楽のアートとしての世間的な投資価値を高め、分断を和らげる」

「またそれらをドキュメンタリ映像として完成させ、公開することで、それを来場できなかった人たちにも伝える」

この辺りを狙いたいと思います。
言わば、当社が掲げるSTEAM教育の一環でもあり、アーティスト活動でもあります。

とまあ、随分と、堅っ苦しいことを初っ端に言ってはしまいましたが、
お越しいただいた皆さんには、シンプルにパーティを楽しんでいただければと思っております。

美人店長、バーテンダーによるBarコーナーのご用意がありますし、
リハーサル中も、普通に来場者同士でお話しいただいても構いません。
もちろん、音楽にあわせて踊っていただけると、とても嬉しい限りです。
LAで路上ライブしてみて一番思ったことは、やっぱり皆、自然と身体が動くんですよね。

ご自身がパーティの主人公になるくらいの感じで来られても全然大丈夫ですよ。
ちょっとやそっとで、負けるつもりは私にはありませんから笑

また、リハーサルを、スタジオ内のどこでご覧になっていただいても大丈夫です。
ミュージシャンの隣で見てもらっても構いません。
（ただし、カメラへの映り込みはご自身でご配慮ください。基本的にそのまま使いますので、後で肖像権云々言われても、困ってしまいます。）

音楽を「身をもって」体験してもらえることが、一番、重要だと考えていますし、それこそが身体を持たないAIには到達不可能な部分だと考えております。

タイムスケジュールとしては、

14:00にOPEN
19:00までリハーサルがDJ TIMEを挟んで続き、
その後、ハリウッド映画祭に選出された私のショートフィルムを日本で初上映します。
19:30〜20:30とその日のリハーサルで感触の良かった曲を並べてShort LIVEを実施します。
その後22:00まではAfter Partyとさせていただければと思います。

今回のパーティでは、合間合間で、ご来場いただいた皆さんとも、
お話しできればと思っています。

Hollywood’s Behind Me—And Here Comes the First Event Back in Japan.

On Saturday, March 29, we’re throwing an unprecedented party.

It’s called:

“Tonight, Just Rehearsing…?”

To put it simply:

This is an experimental event where musicians, together with a full sound crew, conduct a serious rehearsal session—live.
The audience gets to observe the entire process, raw and unfiltered, offering a unique opportunity for non-musicians to experience how music is actually made.

Think of it as something between a workshop and a live performance.

At its core, this project is about:

Giving people a deeper understanding of how musicians think, create, and perform—beyond the surface-level image often imposed by celebrity culture.
Highlighting the artistic value of music in society by bridging the gap between artists and audiences.
Capturing it all as a documentary film, so that even those who can’t attend can still feel part of it.

It’s a statement. It’s part of our STEAM education mission. And yes, it’s also a celebration of art.

Now, that might sound a little heavy-handed for an invite—but at the end of the day, what we want most is for you to have fun.

There’ll be a bar corner run by a beautiful bar manager and skilled bartenders, and you’re absolutely welcome to chat and mingle during the rehearsals.
And if the music moves you—please, dance!
When I performed on the streets of LA, one thing that really struck me was how naturally people let their bodies respond to the rhythm.

So come with the mindset that you are the star of this party.
I won’t be outshined so easily—but I welcome the challenge. 😉

Feel free to watch the rehearsals from anywhere in the studio—even right next to the musicians.
(Just a heads-up: the cameras will be rolling continuously, and footage will be used as-is, so we kindly ask for your discretion if you don’t want to appear on camera.)

We believe the physical experience of music is irreplaceable—something even the most advanced AI can’t replicate.

The adventure in LA

This is my adventure in LA.

Miraculously, I was fortunate to meet wonderful people every day.

It felt like I was protected and guided.

It’s hard to sum up everything I learned in just a few words,

but one thing is certain—going there was truly important.

The U.S., which once felt so distant, now doesn’t seem so far away.

People talk about the high cost of living and safety concerns,

but I feel like they are manageable.

More than that, the heavy snowfall in Tokyo right before the spring equinox,

which stopped the trains, seemed far more terrifying.

Just kidding… kind of.

I have a feeling that I’ll be back in LA soon.

How I get there may not be all that important.

Perhaps we Japanese should be a bit more optimistic.

これが私がロスで経験した冒険です

奇跡的にも、人に恵まれた毎日でした

まるで誰かに守られているかのように

導かれているかのように

どういった学びがあったかについては

一言では言えませんが

ともかく行ってみることはやはり重要でして

遠くに感じていたアメリカは

さほど遠くもないかもしれないと思わされました

物価高とか治安だとか色々言われていますが

どうにかならんこともないかなと

それよりは春分の日を目の前にした

大雪で電車が止まってる東京の方が

恐ろしい気もしてきたよ

きっと私はすぐに、LAに戻るような気がしています

I already booked

I finally booked my flight and accommodations!

I’ll be staying in Hollywood from March 4 to March 12, bringing one photographer with me. For the parties on the 7th and 8th, I’ll be meeting up with a local interpreter.

I’m still looking for:

• An interpreter for the 5th

• A makeup artist for the 5th, 7th, and 8th

• Anyone else who seems like a great fit for the project

I’d love for us all to make this project a success together!

【クラファン】ハリウッド映画祭プロジェクト

クラウドファンディングにご協力いただいた皆様、本当にありがとうございました。

おかげさまで、65万円のご支援をいただきました。

目標の200万円には残念ながら達成できませんでしたが、22名様ものご支援をいただきました。

これは本当にとてもありがたいことです。

この人は応援してくれていたんだという、発見といいますか、ちょっとうまく言葉にできないんですけど、それって一生忘れられないようなものなんじゃないのかって思います

マスに共感されづらい人間性なのは、自他共に認めるところではありますが、そうなると突き抜けるしかないので「ときめきダンス」でも歌ったけど、そう変われるようなものでもないし、残された時間がないのと同じでその中でどれだけ最高の結果に辿り着けるかっていうことだと思ってますので、私も25日までに何かできることはないかと考え中です

苦手で仕方がないSNS生配信なんかもやってみようかと思ってます

どのプラットフォームがいいのかそれすらわかりませんが、やってみたいと思います

Restreamというサービスを経由して、各プラットフォーム同時配信という荒技でしたが、意外や意外、Xのアカウントで同時視聴101人を達成しました！一番アクティブなインスタライブだけきちんとできていたのか不明で、もったいなかったですが、
というのもせっかく持って行ったカメラのデータをPCに取り込むことができず、結局、スマフォで撮影だったんですね。
それで確認ができなかったのです。
もしかすると、クリッピングがうまく行っていなかった可能性があります。
またやってみたいと思います！

I need you

どこまでいっても専属マネージャーさんが必要だという結論にはなるんだと思う。
最優先で必要なビジネスパートナーってことなんだろうな。
それは、クリエイターである俺の考えや意志を100%理解しようとしてくれるくらいの熱量のある人で、
マーケティングやプロモーションのテクニックとかは二の次なんだと思う。
テクニックだって重要だし、あるに越したことはないんだけど、そっちが先に来るような人は、確実に俺を殺してしまう。
俺は自分の信念に反するようなことは絶対にやりたくないから。
その信念って自分ではすごく明確でわかりやすいと思ってるけど、他にサンプルになるような人がほとんどいないっていう意味では、何かに当てはめるように即席で理解できるようなものではない気がする。
だからすごくめんどくさい作業にはなるだろうし、
そんなイバラの道を歩みたいって人が、今どれくらいいるんだろうって。
もっと楽して稼ぐ方法なんて、腐るほどあるからね。
しかも俺には固定の人件費を払う余裕がないんだよ。
完全成果報酬制になってしまう。
それでも一緒に夢を見たいという人を探しているわけだ。
人生捧げてくれるなら、株でも、利益の数十パーセント持っていってもらっても、俺は文句ないですよ。
まあ最高のエージェントってことだよな。
トム・クルーズか？

Inevitably, I always come to the conclusion that I need a dedicated manager.

That person would be my most essential business partner.

But what I truly need isn’t just someone with marketing or promotional skills—those come second. What matters most is someone who has the passion and commitment to fully understand my vision and creative intent. Of course, technical skills are important, and having them is better than not, but if someone prioritizes those over everything else, they would suffocate me.

I refuse to do anything that goes against my beliefs. I think my principles are crystal clear and easy to grasp, but because there aren’t many people who serve as a reference for the way I operate, it’s not something that can be instantly understood or categorized.

That’s why this is going to be a painstaking process. And I wonder—how many people out there are willing to walk this thorny path with me? There are countless easier ways to make money.

On top of that, I can’t afford to pay a fixed salary. The only option is a full commission-based system. Even so, I’m searching for someone who wants to share this dream with me.

If someone is willing to dedicate their life to this, they can take equity, or even a significant percentage of the profits—I wouldn’t complain.

Basically, I’m looking for the ultimate agent.

What, am I asking for Tom Cruise?

This EP is centered around the theme of “soul liberation.”

“Generation” was a song I created seven years ago, inspired by witnessing my father battle terminal cancer.

At that time, I was in my twenties, and seeing him fight the illness made me realize, “Things don’t need to last forever.”

Letting go of attachments is essential, and the idea that endings lead to new beginnings is something I find deeply important—not only in love and career but in every stage of life.

“Heart-in-true Dance” was written around the same time as Generation.

I found myself trapped in a slump, unable to write any music because I was too focused on trying to be liked by others.

In the end, I accepted that some people might walk away, but I made the decision to live honestly and true to my heart—and that’s when this song was born.

“My Way” was a song I wrote for my younger classmates when I graduated high school.

At first glance, letting go of attachments and following one’s own path might seem contradictory, but I don’t see it that way.

Rather, I believe that by freeing ourselves from unnecessary attachments, our true path becomes clear.

The final track, “Your Way, My Way,” is an answer song to the short film I directed, and it is also included in my album released in January.

Its theme revolves around the idea that if two people truly love each other, they don’t need to force themselves to stay together.

Once again, this song is about letting go of attachment, even when it comes to the person you love the most.

I hope this EP helps liberate your soul from the constraints of meaningless preconceptions.

今作は、「魂の解放」をテーマにしたEPです

Generationは7年前に私の父が末期がんの闘病をしている姿に

インスピレーションを受け制作した楽曲です

「ずっと　続いていくことは　必要ないんだ」

ということを20代だった時分に気づかされたというか

それはあらゆる執着を捨てるという事だし

終わるから、始まる、次へと繋がるという考えは

恋愛やキャリアなどあらゆる人生のステージにおいても

とても重要な事だと思っています

ときめきダンスはGenerationと同時期に制作した曲で

周りの人に好かれようとばかり考えていたら

一切、曲が書けなくなってしまったというスランプの中で

結果として、去っていく人はいるかもしれないけど

自分の心に正直に生きてゆこうと決意したときに制作した曲です

我が道をゆけは高校卒業の時に後輩たちに向けて書いた曲です

執着を捨てることと、我が道をゆくことは

一見、相反するようですが、私はそうは思っていなくて

むしろ不必要な執着から解放されることによって

真の我が道が拓けるのではないかとそう考えています

最後のYour Way, My Wayは1月リリースのアルバムにも収録されている

私が初監督したショートフィルムのアンサーソングですが

本当に愛し合っているなら、無理して一緒にいる必要はないという

やはりこれも、最愛の恋人に対する執着を捨てることがテーマになっています

つまらない先入観による抑圧から

皆さんの魂が解放されることを願っています

When he asked me, I hesitated whether to bridge the gap between his world and the world beyond him.

The image of flowers that instinctively came to mind had various shapes and colors, and I wanted to weave them into the story of the song, which led to this visual.

私にお願いしてくれた時、彼の世界と彼以外の世界の狭間を埋めようか埋めないか迷いました。

直感的に浮かんだ花の姿は多種多様な形と色をしていて、

曲の物語の中に添えたいと思い今回のビジュアルに至りました。

Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival2025

Dan Mitchel’s directorial debut, A Love Story in The Summer, has been officially selected for the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival (HRIFF)!

With this honor, I am planning to embark on my very first journey to the United States this March.

At the end of last year, guided by a flash of inspiration, I submitted my film to several of the countless festivals around the world. It seems one of those sparks has ignited. I can’t help but feel that performing in English was the right choice after all.

Just as I declared my hope to visit America this year, the doors of opportunity have opened wide. This is a moment I cannot afford to let slip away.

Simply attending the festival isn’t enough for me. I want to create a promotion team and, if possible, capture this milestone through a documentary. Yet, I realize that directing the documentary myself may be a task too great to take on alone.

The announcement of my film’s screening schedule is set for February 20. The festival itself will span from March 5 to 15—ten days filled with endless possibilities. On the technical side, I’m still quietly wrestling with the mysteries of DCP (Digital Cinema Package) submission. Terms like “5.1 surround sound” and other specifications feel like another world to navigate, but I’ll find my way through.

I would love to have a team by my side, including a documentary director, a cameraman, an interpreter, and a hair & makeup artist. However, I have yet to extend any formal offers. Ideally, I hope to find team members who can take on multiple roles. I’m also hoping to arrange costume consultations here in Japan before my departure.

Depending on the length of my stay, this venture may cost as much as 2 million yen.

Fortunately, with the submission deadline for the DCP set for February 20, I still have time to refine and edit the film. I am considering adding the names of sponsors to the end credits as a way to showcase their support on the Hollywood stage. I wonder how many sponsors would be willing to join me on this journey under such mutually beneficial terms.

Of course, simple donations would also be greatly appreciated. I would be incredibly grateful for any support. In time, I will find a way to give back to this country that has shaped me.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting deeply on why I sometimes feel frustration toward Japan. It’s because, at my core, I am Japanese. Despite everything, I cannot abandon the love I hold for this country. This is a truth I feel in my heart every day.

I can’t align myself with the current trend of escaping Japan or glorifying such avoidance as a virtue. I cherish this country’s culture, its natural heritage, and above all, the family and friends who live here.

It is precisely because of this deep attachment that I feel the need to succeed abroad. That’s why I have adopted the name “Dan Mitchel”—to blend in overseas—not because of any infatuation with foreign trends or aesthetics.

This coming week will be a battle, particularly in assembling the right team. But I will face it with unwavering determination.

というわけで、3月に人生初となる渡米をしたいと思います

昨年末に、ちょこちょこ無数にある映画祭の中から

インスピレーションでいくつか送ってみたのですが

そのうちの一つが当たったみたいです

やはり英語で演じて正解だったような気がします

今年はアメリカに行きたいと宣言したのも束の間

遂に扉が開いたのだと、このチャンスを逃したくはありません

ただ行くだけではつまらないので

どうにかプロモーションチームを組んで

できれば、ドキュメンタリーを撮りたい

となるとさすがに自分では監督出来ないなと

自分の作品がいつ上映されるかというのは

2/20に発表されるのと

映画祭自体は3/5~15とマックス10日間もあると

あとは提出するDCPってなんやねん

依然としてテクニカルな部分でも

人知れず格闘中ではありますが

できればチームは

ドキュメンタリー監督、カメラマン、通訳、ヘアメイク

さん達には帯同してもらいたいところ

できればある程度、兼業してくれたらありがたいけれども

あとは国内で衣装の相談なんかもできればとは思っています

何日間滞在するかにもよりますが

最大200万くらいかかりそうなんだよな

2/20までにDCPを提出するわけだけれど

それまでなら編集ができるから

エンドロールに名前をクレジットして

ハリウッドで上映させていただきます

っていう体でどのくらいスポンサーが集まるだろうか

お互いにメリットがあるような

リーズナブルな体系を考えなければ

もちろんシンプル募金も大歓迎です

いずれこの国に何かしら還元します

私がなぜ日本に対して怒りを感じるのかといえば

やはり自分が日本人で

この国に対する愛を捨てずにはいられないからであると

近頃日々、痛感するのです

今流行りの単なる日本脱出や

逃避を美徳とする価値観には

私は共感できないのです

それはやはりこの国の本来の文化や自然資産

家族や友人達が日本に住んでいるからに

ほかならないと思います

そのためにも私は海外で活躍せねばならない

だから”Dan Mitchel”と外国人名を名乗って

擬態しているのだというわけで

外国かぶれでもなんでもないわけです

チーム作り含めて

この１週間はそういった闘いになりそうです

気を吐いてやりますよ
