In the drama I like, “Serenade of the Past Days,” there is a line that says, “You only realize what’s important after you’ve lost it.” I finished this song quite inspired by that line.
The time when a wonderful girlfriend lets you do whatever you want is the peak of your happiness. If you get too carried away, you’ll face serious consequences later on. This is a lesson I want to demonstrate through my own experiences.
I completed everything from scratch to the rough mix in just one day, so I made it without overthinking, for better or worse. I created it freely with themes like “Japanese dance pop,” “gradual changes using repetitive phrases,” “intentionally using everyday words,” and “singing in a lower key.” The result is a rather peculiar song.

Because you are straightforward, you tend to be clumsy. Even though you truly love each other, You end up hurting your partner with careless words, Or fail to control your own emotions and impulses.
Even though you really want to cherish them, Even though you want to understand them, Things just don’t go smoothly.
There’s only one thing you should do. “Be honest with yourself!”

Even couples who are deeply in love can experience periods of boredom; it’s quite common. The partner who once seemed so attractive may suddenly start to seem dull. But this might be because you are feeling tired. In reality, they may be very beautiful and irreplaceable, and by the time you realize it, it might already be too late.

Having gone through the prolonged pandemic, I’ve come to strongly believe that for us to continue making the world a better place, it’s crucial for each individual to confront the issues right in front of them and take action. I think by spreading this mindset, we can achieve happiness. Is this a simplistic thought from a stereotypical science-oriented mind? I’d like to prove it somehow.

“You are not here” is a song I wrote 13 years ago, during the time of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Eastern Japan.
At that time, I was living in the Kansai region(Far from Fukushima), and despite feeling a strong impact, I found myself at a loss. While I felt the need to do something myself, I felt utterly incapable of doing so, especially since I had only faint memories of the Kobe earthquake and lacked the experiences of the adults around me.
Instead of creating a song to deliver to those affected by the disaster, it became a theme about how we, the survivors, should live. Moreover, it was decided to produce it with English lyrics.
Then I’d been feeling that there was a sense of “escaping,” but in retrospect, I believe it became a universally relatable piece transcending any era or country.
Personally, I have a strong fondness for the concept of “waves.” While they can indeed be terrifying as natural phenomena, I attempted to depict them positively and incorporated various creative elements such as quoting Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous speech.
Listening to the initial demos after a long time, they were so amateurish that I feared my PC might be destroyed. However, with the help of renowned musicians, I was able to release it finally on the fifth remake.
I included three spring songs as B-sides, all created around the same time as “You are not here.”
“This Wind Could Make Me Feel You Gently” is a deeply poignant song about the person who have lost their loved ones, remembering the scent of the wind from the time they were together.
To balance the sorrow, I included a significantly positive song called “April Fool” which I came up with on April 1st, with just one chorus.
March being the season of graduations, I rearranged a song I made for a graduation album, “School Days…,” into an 80s rock style and placed it at the end.
While this single is a bit longer, I hope listeners can enjoy it as a single narrative, especially on a spring day.

Summer in Japan is a strange season. Just when you think the rainy season is over, it gets hotter and hotter, full of energy, but before you know it, it’s gone.
It’s kind of like a love story.
I have selected 11 love stories set in summer from the songs I have been writing for the past 13 years. These stories are like an omnibus movie, or stories one main character looking back from the end of summer.
It would be wonderful if there are overlaps with your happy or bittersweet summer memories.
